![]() Slaty-legged Crake, Rallina eurizonoides amauroptera - Adult Thattekad, Kerala, India, on 27 August 2016 Seen in the evening These little Rails are extremely shy and retiring. When flushed they take to the nearest thickly - foliaged tree and seem quite at home there. They call mornings mid evenings and when it is wet or misty during the day also. If suspicious of danger the bird utters a sound like k-r-r-r-r in a subdued tone. They feed on insects. Same bird as above |
