*They are to be found about their nests from December to March. I have seen fully-fledged young in a nest in the first week in March. The nests are generally placed on Peepul trees, but even the toddy palm tree is sometimes chosen. One nest, which I saw in the Bhootan Dooars, was placed in the fork of a main branch of some jungly tree and only 15 feet off the ground; but as a rule they build very high up and on thick branches. As many as eight nests were on one large Peepul tree not far from the factory and right on the thoroughfare leading to Furreedpore.
*The current situation is very alarming with a decimation of their population with this vulture and others marked as CRITICALLY ENDANGERED (Please click for details).

An appeal to the fellow birders: The villagers in the vicinity of tall trees where theses birds are found nesting should be told about the severe decline of these birds and that these trees and the vultures should not be disturbed. Also if possible they should plant more tall trees.
